“AI is far more dangerous than nukes.”

EU AI Act Issue
The threats posed by artificial intelligence are real and have been long-debated worldwide. As AI becomes more sophisticated, the risks grow exponentially. Whether it’s the increasing automation, bias issues, adversarial attacks or autonomous weapons, some can operate even without human oversight. This cannot but raise huge concerns and call for discussion at the level of law and regulators.
Imposing mandatory rules on AI can help deal with risks brought by AI technologies if they infringe human rights or affect their lives. Therefore, the objective of EU AI Act is to ensure that AI systems placed on the market and used in the Union are safe and trustworthy as well as respect existing law on fundamental rights.
The EU AI Act will apply to any company worldwide, if they provide or deploy AI systems in the EU. In case of non-compliance companies will be punished and obliged to pay up to 30 million Euro or 6% of global annual turnover, for the most serious offenses.
